Privacy Policy
The short version: Penni does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data outside of your iPhone. We operate no servers, we have no user accounts, and we use no analytics, tracking or advertising of any kind. Your data stays on your device.
Who we are
Penni is developed and published by Volodymyr Yahello, an independent developer based in Ukraine. This privacy policy describes how the Penni iOS application handles user data.
For any privacy-related question, contact vyahello@gmail.com.

Data stored on your device
The expenses, budgets, templates, categories and preferences you enter in Penni are saved exclusively on your iPhone using standard iOS storage:
- UserDefaults — used for app preferences (e.g. default currency, onboarding completion flag)
- Local JSON files in the app's private sandbox — used for expenses, budgets, templates, custom categories
This data is protected by iOS sandboxing — no other app can read it. It is included in your standard iPhone backups (iCloud Backup / iTunes encrypted backup) only if you have those backups enabled in iOS Settings. We have no access to those backups; Apple does not share them with us.
When you delete the app
When you uninstall Penni from your iPhone, all data stored by the app is permanently and immediately removed by iOS. We have no copies, no server backups, and no way to recover deleted data — because the data was never on our servers in the first place.
Data export
You can export all your expenses to CSV format at any time via Settings → Export to CSV. The export uses iOS's standard share sheet, so you choose where the file goes (email, AirDrop, Files app, third-party cloud storage, etc.). Penni does not control or observe where you send the exported file.
Permissions
Penni does not request access to any sensitive iOS resources. The app does not access your location, contacts, camera, photos, microphone, health data, motion sensors, calendar, reminders, push notifications or background app refresh.
Third-party services and SDKs
Penni integrates with no third-party services, no analytics platforms, no crash reporters and no advertising networks. The app uses only Apple's first-party frameworks (SwiftUI, UIKit, Foundation, Charts, App Intents). No third-party Swift packages are bundled.
Network access
Penni makes no network requests during normal operation. The app works fully offline. It does not require an internet connection to launch, record expenses, view statistics, or perform any other function.
Children's privacy
Penni does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because Penni does not collect any data, the app is appropriate for users of any age and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Your rights under GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California)
Because Penni does not collect, store or process any personal data outside of your device, there is no data to access, correct, delete, port or restrict on our side. All data is under your control on your iPhone. You can delete it at any time via Settings → Reset all data or by uninstalling the app.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this privacy policy, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will also be communicated in App Store release notes when the next app version is published.
